A collection of Korean Buddhist vegetarian recipes thoughtfully crafted for menopausal women. Rooted in temple cuisine traditions, these dishes nourish the body, calm the mind, and support balance through life’s changes.
Introduction
This project began not from personal experience, but from deep curiosity.
Earlier this year, I started researching how nutrition might ease the symptoms of menopause, a stage of life that often gets overlooked. As I dove into scientific studies, personal stories, and diverse cultural recipes, I noticed a powerful thread: food isn’t just a fuel. It can provide relief and resilience.
Korean Buddhist temple cuisine (사찰음식) stood out to me as a natural framework for this kind of nourishment.
It’s gentle on the body, rooted in plant-based recipes, and built on accumulated wisdom of seasonal balance and internal harmony. While traditionally spiritual, these healthy vegetarian meals align closely with what researches tell us can help with menopausal symptoms.
This recipe book is a personal interpretation of science and tradition intersects. I created this in the hope that it might support others, especially menopausal women, in small but meaningful ways.
